MRI Diagnostic Testing
Our Team provides on-site MRI and MRA diagnostic testing services. With a combined 25 years of MRI experience, Haider, Tracy and Shanda are experts in their fields. Appointments are often available on a same day basis. The Team is also experienced with pediatric testing. Light sedation is offered when necessary as well.
What to Expect During an MRI
Depending on the type of MRI being performed, you may be asked to wear a hospital gown or clothing without metal (zippers, snaps, button, etc.). Certain types of metal will have a negative effect on the MRI images produced. Guests will lie on a narrow table inside the tunnel-shaped scanner. Headphones are available for guests to help pass the time.
Depending on the complexity of the test, guests can expect it to last about an hour from start to finish. MRI tests are painless. If you experience difficulty lying still or have issues in confined spaces, light sedation is an option. Too much movement can cause errors in the images taken. An intercom is in used for the duration of the test so guests may speak with the technician, if necessary.
How to Prepare for an MRI Scan
Because the MRI contains strong magnets, metal objects cannot be in the MRI scanning suite. Please remove all jewelry, hearing aids, pens, pocket knives, eyeglasses, hairpins and removable dental work. Tell us if you have any of the following:
- artificial heart valves
- brain aneurysm clips
- heart defibrillator or pacemaker
- inner ear (cochlear) implants
- kidney disease or dialysis
- recently place artificial joints
- vascular stents
