Facts and Opinions from Dr. Shopp
Is there anything you can't do in Holdrege?
"The reality is, for the vast majority of orthopedic cases, you are better off having the procedure done close to home at your local hospital. It's a more intimate setting, you're known by your regular doctor, I know who you are, the staff is trained to do a great job. The Phelps Memorial Team is doing a fantastic job and the numbers and data show that. Infection rates and outcomes are good."
What is your favorite aspect about Phelps Memorial and our community?
"It feels like home. It feels like a nice, easy Midwestern town. People say hi when I walk in, people are friendly. It's not just about the smiles. There are some talented people in the operating room. There are talented primary care doctors helping me take care of patients. It's been a very gratifying practice in Holdrege. Everyone wants to work at a place like this. It's more focused on the patients than anything else. It's patient-focused and extremely fun to be here."
