Living Heart Healthy Class
Class participants learn an array of
information to decrease the risk of heart problems including:

Risk factors for heart disease

Ways to decrease the impact of
each risk factor
-
Signs and symptoms of heart attack
and stroke
-
The different types of fats in the
body and in foods
-
Simple cooking and shopping tips
to prepare delicious and healthy meals
The Living Heart Healthy class is offered on the Second
Wednesday of each month a Phelps Memorial Health Center. There is a
nominal cost for the one hour class. It is
offered to Cardiac Rehabilitation Program participants and their spouses
without charge.

Diabetes Education Class Phelps Memorial Health Center

Watch for future dates *Two classes, 1:30 p.m. -
4:30 p.m. (must attend both days) Diabetes Educators Jenny Spaulding, RN,
CDE and Karen Bunnell, RD, LMNT, teach participants about managing diabetes for a
healthier life. Participants will learn: * An understanding of diabetes and how it affects their body * Blood glucose monitoring and how to use the results * Healthy eating habits * Monitoring of medications * Importance of exercise and activity * Early detection and prevention of complications
The American Diabetes Association recognizes
this education service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes
Self-Management Education.
