AHA Chain of Survival

If you want to know what to do in a life threatening emergency, the American Heart Association has courses designed for you in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).  You can have the knowledge and skills to help save the life of a loved one, a friend, or a neighbor.  Choose one of the following classes at Phelps Memorial Health Center that fits your needs.

Online Registration

HEARTSAVER  CPR 

This course is for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. The Heartsaver CPR Course teaches CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and relief of choking for adult, child and infant victim. 
Course Preparation:  Register for the class and receive your books and pre- course information.
Course:  Held from 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. in the PMHC Community Room (lower level) 
Tuition:  $35 (includes text and materials)
  * (Combo CPR/First Aid $65 if both classes taken within three months)

2008 Dates: 
January 10 - March 6 - June 10 - August 7 - September 4 - November 11


HEARTSAVER AED
(Automatic External Defibrillator)

The Heartsaver AED Course teaches CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children and infant CPR and relief of choking. This course is for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.
Course Preparation:  Register for the class and receive your books and pre- course information.
Course:  Held from 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. in the Community Room in the lower level of PMHC.
Tuition:  $40 (includes text and materials)

2008 Dates:  Available to groups upon request


BLS HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

This course is designed for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course. The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.
Course Preparation:  Register for the class and receive your books and pre course information.
Course:  Held from 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. in the PMHC Community Room (lower level)
Tuition:  $55 (includes text and materials)

2008 Dates:  Available to groups upon request


BLS HEALTHCARE PROVIDER RENEWAL 

Renewal of core material: adults/child/infant CPR (including two-rescuer CPR), airway barriers, bag mask ventilation, AED and foreign-body airway obstruction. This is an advanced CPR course.
Course Preparation: Register for class and receive a book and pre-course materials.  Completing the pretest prior to class is highly recommended.
Course: Held from 2 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the PMHC Community Room (lower level)
Tuition: $55 (includes text and materials)

2008 Dates: January 10 - March 6 - May 8 - June 10 - August 7 - September 4 - November 11


First Aid


American Heart Association First Aid

For those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirement. The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies.

Register for the class and receive your books and pre-course information. You must be currently certified in CPR before attending this section of the course.

Course: Held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the PMHC Community Room (lower level)
Tuition: $40 (Combo CPR/First Aid $65 if both classes taken within three months)

2008 Dates:  February 7 - June 12 - August 14 - November 13
