Five years running, Phelps Memorial Health Center has continued to be a
leader in service and in satisfying patients and family members,
according to the patient surveys. Phelps Memorial has again been awarded
the National Award for Overall Best Performer for Exemplary Service by
Avatar, a leader in healthcare research and consulting. PMHC received
the highest overall combined score for Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency
Department and Ambulatory Surgery, as based on patients' scoring on the
surveys.
"This is the fifth year in a row that Phelps Memorial has been
recognized nationally for service quality to our patients and our
community," said Mark Harrel, PMHC CEO. "Phelps Memorial is to be
congratulated for its demonstrated excellence, where high standards and
unrivaled service are rated highly by our patients and their families."
In making the announcement, Michael Everett, Ph.D., CEO of Avatar said,
"Not everyone can be the best at what they do. However Phelps Memorial
Health Center as a top performer in Avatar's national database has shown
that they are at the top of their field. Phelps Memorial Health Center's
patients are fortunate that they can expect unrivaled service quality.
Phelps Memorial Health Center's community also benefits from such high
standards and its continued and impressive efforts to put patients
first."
"It is an honor to accept these awards on behalf of all the employees at
Phelps Memorial," said Mr. Harrel. "It is their hard work, their
diligence and their interest in the health and well being of our
patients that puts PMHC at the top of their class."
"The awards we have received over the years are a direct result of
patient comments, and what they write on the surveys that are mailed to
their homes. We appreciate their honesty in telling us when we need to
fix something, and appreciate it when they tell us they receive
excellent care at Phelps Memorial," he said.
The overall rating includes survey components that patients answer
including:
* Would you recommend PMHC to your friends and family?
* The nurses and doctors communicated with me.
* My pain was managed.
* The hospital was clean and quiet.
