The Phelps County Red Cross Bloodmobile was the recipient of a Community
Benefit grant from the Phelps Memorial Health Center Foundation. The Red
Cross will use the funds to supply food for blood donors, to support
their blood drives and for scholarships to high school students in
Holdrege, Loomis and Bertrand who volunteer to help at the Bloodmobiles.
The grant is for $3,575.00.
Community Benefit grants are given by the Phelps Memorial Health Center
Foundation to improve the health and well being of people in the
communities that PMHC serves. The funds for the grants are allocated by
the Board of Directors and are a form of community re-investment. These
grants focus on health care programs, fitness, wellness, education and
community betterment and are given directly to the organizations at the
discretion of the PMHC Foundation Committee and the PMHC Board of
Directors. Private donations and memorials that are given to Phelps
Memorial Health Center are not used for the Community Benefit Grants.
These donations are usually directed to the betterment of the hospital
according to the donors’ specifications and wishes.
