Grand Opening for the Phelps Medical Plaza April 19, at 2pm.
 The
Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting are planned for the Phelps Medical
Plaza, 516 West 14th Ave., Holdrege, on Saturday, April 19, beginning at
2 pm. The community is invited to see the new building, hear from the
presenters and join with others for tours of the facility.
The program will feature a visit from Congressman Adrian Smith, and
updates on the building from Michele High, president of the Phelps
Memorial Health Center Board of Directors. Mark Harrel, PMHC CEO, will
introduce the building committee and Dr. Bill Sandy, will represent the
PMHC Medical Staff.
The Phelps Medical Plaza opened for patient care on Monday, Feb. 25,
with the moves of Family Medical Specialties and Holdrege Pharmacy from
the downtown locations to the new building on the corner of Broadway and
14th Ave.
The Phelps Specialty Clinics and the Phelps Oncology Suite also opened
in February. Dr. Scott Strasburger, orthopedic surgeon, holds clinic at
the Plaza every other Tuesday in the Specialty Clinic area, and also has
surgeries that day at Phelps Memorial Health Center. Other physicians
seeing patients at the Specialty Clinic at the Plaza include Dr. Moore,
podiatry, 3rd Wednesdays, Dr. Fletcher, pediatric cardiology by
appointment, and Dr. Adam, OB/GYN every other Tuesday.
Chemotherapy and oncology services are on Thursdays at the Phelps
Oncology Suite. Dr. Hartman is at this clinic on the first and third
Thursdays of each month, and chemotherapy is open on the usual schedule
(every Thursday) at the Plaza.
The PMHC physical and occupational therapy department, moved into the
Plaza in mid March. North Park Therapy Center is now known as Phelps
Memorial Therapy Center, and is located in Suite 200, just to the left
of the front door. The expanded space at the Plaza allows for more
patients to be seen, and allows for more therapy services to be offered.
There is a larger gym, more patient care rooms, an occupational therapy
department and more equipment. A new exercise pool, Hydroworx, gives the
therapists another tool to help patients with their strength with the
use of water. .
The businesses in the Phelps Medical Plaza are identified by signs and
by suite numbers. Family Medical Specialties, Suite 100; Phelps Memorial
Therapy Center, Suite 200; Phelps Oncology Suite, Suite 300; Phelps
Specialty Clinic, Suite 400; and Holdrege Pharmacy, Suite 500.
Besides the medical components at the Phelps Medical Plaza, a coffee
shop has also opened in the lobby of the building. Jitterz Too is open
Monday through Friday, 8 to 3, to serve specialty coffees and other
beverages. The coffee shop is a branch of the Jitterz To Go on North
Burlington in Holdrege.
For the Grand Opening of the Phelps Medical Plaza, PMHC Service League
volunteers will serve coffee from Jitterz Too and desserts from Phelps
Memorial Health Center.
