COMMUNITY BETTERMENT GRANTS:
The Holdrege School System, the Bertrand Schools and the Loomis Schools
each received a Community Betterment grant from the PMHC Foundation to
help prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the school system.
These school administrators worked to outline several plans to combat
communicable diseases, including an action plan, an athletics and
activities plan, education plan, partnership plan and future sustaining
plans which include more stringent policies and guidelines to help
continue action with the plans and will outline how to respond to an
outbreak.
The funds for this grant were allocated by the PMHC Board of Directors
and are a form of community re-investment. The Community Betterment
Grants focus on health care programs, fitness, wellness, education and
community betterment and are given directly to the organizations at the
discretion of the PMHC Foundation Committee and the PMHC Board of
Directors.
Private donations and memorials that are given to Phelps Memorial Health
Center are not used for the Community Benefit Grants. These donations
are usually directed to the betterment of the hospital according to the
donors’ specifications and wishes.
