MUSEUM RECEIVES PMHC GRANT FOR SAFETY:

The Phelps County Historical Society applied for and was awarded a
$33,197 community benefit grant from the Phelps Memorial Health Center
Foundation. The grant is to purchase and install a new fire/security
system for the Nebraska Prairie Museum to meet the current fire code
requirements for the State of Nebraska. Without funding for these fire
codes improvements, the Nebraska Prairie Museum was in danger of not
being able to stay open, according to Dan VanDyke, Executive Director of
the Nebraska Prairie Museum.

Community Benefit grants are given by the Phelps Memorial Health Center
Foundation to improve the health and well being of people in the
communities that PMHC serves. The funds for the grants are allocated by
the Board of Directors and are a form of community re-investment. These
grants focus on health care programs, fitness, wellness, education and
community and are given directly to the organizations at the discretion
of the PMHC Foundation Committee and the PMHC Board of Directors.
Private donations and memorials that are given to Phelps Memorial Health
Center are used for the betterment of the hospital according to the
donors’ specifications and wishes.
