Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The PMHC Cardiac Rehabilitation program provides exercise lifestyle changes to decrease the risk of heart problems, plus education for family and participants with heart conditions. These heart conditions can include a heart attack, angina, cardiac stent, heart surgery, angioplasty and others.

The program is designed to help you learn healthy lifestyle techniques that will prevent progression of coronary artery disease and help recover following a heart attack, cardiac surgery, angina or congestive heart failure. It will enable learning of new lifestyle habits and build up endurance, strength, and tolerance to activity or exercise.

To achieve and maintain good cardiovascular conditioning, aerobic exercise is key (walking, bicycling, rowing, jogging/running, continuous rhythmic dancing, jumping rope, swimming, and use of a cross-country ski machine). Activities that are not aerobic because they are stop/start activities include: tennis, golf, and weight lifting.

Our experienced staff provides a comprehensive program of exercise, cardiac risk factor modification and education for patients and their families. The program is also recognized by the American Diabetic Association as an Outpatient Diabetic Self Management Program (in conjunction with Bryan LGH Medical Center).
