Emergency Medical Services

EMS staff provides long distance transfers of critical and non-critical patients to area facilities for care and specialty services not available locally.

In 2012, PMHC transported patients a total of 24,000 miles, including 530 total responses for the year. They mutually aided with volunteer squads 90 times and provided Standby Services at 16 community events (Relay For Life, football, soccer, wrestling, rodeo, and a triathlon). The PMHC ambulance service is licensed by the State of Nebraska as an Advanced Life Support Unit. We provide advanced medical skills, including: the administration of (IV and oral) medications, advanced airway adjuncts, and advanced defibrillation techniques.

Through working with area volunteer units, PMHC is able to bring a level of care to the citizens of this area that was previously unavailable. This service has been provided by PMHC since August 2000. Currently, PMHC owns two (2008 & 2009) ambulance units, each being equally equipped to provide Advanced Life Support care.

PMHC's ambulances provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) to the citizens of Phelps County and the surrounding areas. This is accomplished through paramedic intercept services and long distance transfers.

The paramedic intercept service involves responding with area volunteer services to enhance the services they already provide by administering medications and advanced cardiac life support to critically ill and injured patients. In addition to treating critically injured patients, staff is also able to administer medication and provide other advanced-level services to those that are not as severely injured or sick, but would benefit from advanced pre-hospital interventions.
