Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department at Phelps Memorial Health Center, led by Robert Miller, is committed to providing quality pharmaceutical care to patients. They work with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals for the safety of our patients.

The pharmacy is staffed by a full-time pharmacist, as well as three full-time pharmacy technicians responsible for purchasing medications and maintaining safe and secure storage areas throughout PMHC. Sterile preparations, including injections and IV solutions, are compounded utilizing a biological safety cabinet and sterile isolator to ensure patient safety remains the top priority.

Clinical services include review of all medication orders for interactions, allergies, duplications, and appropriate doses. This service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in an effort to provide safe and effective drug therapy to our patients.

The pharmacy is currently working with medical and nursing staff on many projects to enhance patient drug therapy and patient safety. Bar-coding at the bedside will ensure our patients are getting medication as directed by their physician.
