2008 Silver Run
Race Results:
W Design of Hastings again won the 2008 Silver Run Corporate Challenge at
the 16th Annual Silver Run on Saturday, June 21. The W Design team edged
Holdrege Chiropractic by one place, as Holdrege Chiropractic also edged out
the Loomis Class of 1988 by one point.
There were 12 teams who worked to win the Corporate Challenge. They are the
YMCA of the Prairie, Allmand Bros., Bergstrom Farms, KUVR, Platte Valley
Communications, Rehab Queens, RLJ Farms, Cat Pride and TeamMates.
This is the third win for W Design, winning also in 2007 and 2005. Other
past winners of the Corporate Challenge include Bergstrom Farms in 1999,
Allmand Bros. in 2000. 2001, 2002, and 2003, Platte Valley Communication in
2002 and the Brown Family Team in 2006. The Corporate Challenge winner
receives a wall plaque and their name on the Silver Run Challenge records at
Phelps Memorial Health Center.
AND, THEY’RE OFF! The 16th annual Silver Run
brought in a record crowd to race for the finish. 352 people either ran or
walked 2 miles, 5K or 1k in the event. Pictured here is the start of the
races on Saturday.
The Sweet 16 running of the Silver Run set again records in attendance, time
and weather on Saturday June 21 during the 125th Holdrege Celebration.
Three hundred and fifty-two runners and walkers were registered for the
races and set to take off 8 a.m. This breaks the 2007 race participation
record by 131 runners and walkers. The weather was perfect, and the routes
are fast and flat.
Overall winners (and times) of the races were: 10K Neil Wolford (35:55)
Hastings and Emily Kraus (41:23) Holdrege; 5K: (2007 winner) Al Sanabria
(17:03) Minden and (2006 & 2007 winner) Lanay Robison (19:06) Alma; 2 mile
run: Matt Trampke (9:10) Kearney and Erica Hamik (10:25) Kearney; and 2 mile
walk: Scott Monthey (17:25) Holdrege and (2007 winner) Richele Holen (17:12)
Smithfield.
