PMHC Ambulance

Phelps Memorial Health Center’s ambulance provides service to the citizens of Phelps county and surrounding areas. This is accomplished through paramedic intercept services and long distance transfers.

The paramedic intercept service involves responding with area volunteer services to enhance the services they already provide. This is accomplished by administering medications and advanced cardiac life support to critically ill and injured patients. In addition to treating critically injured patients, staff is also able to provide medication and other services to those less severely injured or sick, but who would benefit from earlier medical interventions as opposed to waiting to be seen in the emergency room.

EMS staff provides long distance transfers, transporting critical and non-critical patient to area facilities for care of specialty services not available locally.

PMHC ambulance is licensed by the State of Nebraska as an Advanced Life Support unit to provided advance medical skill including the administration of medications, advanced airway adjuncts and advance defibrillation techniques. Working with area volunteer units, PMHC is able to bring a level of care to this area that was previously unavailable. This service has been provided by PMHC since August 2000.

In 2007, PMHC transported patients a total of 23,100 miles, including:

  • 500 total responses for the year
  • mutual aided with volunteer squads 94 times last year
