This procedure is used to determine thyroid anatomy and function.
PATIENT PREPARATION:
1. NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK-FOR DAY 1-UNTILL 2 hrs AFTER YOU HAVE
SWALLOWED THE PILL
2. NO BREAST FEEDING-OR PREGNANT WOMEN
3. NO THYROID MEDICATIONS-for 4 weeks prior to scan
4. NO CONTRAST EXAMS-for 4 weeks prior to scan
PROCEDURE:
On the first day, you will swallow a capsule and have a short scan
immediately. Four hours later you will have another short scan. On the
next day you will return to complete your test by having a one hour
scan.
TIME:
DAY 1:
Swallow capsule: 10 min scan.
4 hours later: 10 min scan
DAY 2:
24 hours later: 60 min scan.
