PACS (Picture Archival Communication System) is a
system that stores all Imaging exams, allows your physician to look at
your exam on a computer in his/her office, home, or at the hospital, and
transfers all exams to our Radiologist and Cardiologist to be read.
PACS has allowed our Imaging Department to go filmless in the areas of
CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Echo/Vascular Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray,
and Fluoroscopy. Once images have been obtained, they are transmitted to
our PACS system which allows them to be viewed on a computer. Physicians
are able to view the exam at his/her clinic, home, or at the hospital.
Once the images are on the PACS, they are transmitted to our Radiologist
(located in Kearney) or Cardiologist (located in Lincoln) to be read.
The Imaging Department is also able to let Referring Physicians from
outside PMHC download our PACS so as to visualize a patient's exam. We
are also able to burn a CD that contains a patient's exams and send it a
Referring Physician or have the patient pick the CD up at the Imaging
Department.
