WHAT IS A MAMMOGRAM?
A mammogram is a specialized X-ray examination of the breast.
SCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your physician must recommend the procedure and schedule your
appointment. It is recommended that you have a routine physical
examination, with your physician, prior to your mammography examination.
We must have an order from your physician.
EXAM PREPARATION:

1. Do Not use talcum powder or underarm
deodorants.
2. You will be asked to disrobe from the waist up and you will
be provided with
gown at this time. |
WHO WILL PERFORM THE EXAMINATION?
A female technologist, specially trained in mammography.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MAMMOGRAM?
The technologist will explain the examination and ask you questions. At
least 2 Views of each breast will be taken. The breast will be
compressed. Compression Is necessary. It should be firm and a little
uncomfortable, but should not be painful.
The entire examination may take approximately 30 minutes.
WHEN WILL YOU KNOW THE RESULTS?
A radiologist will evaluate the test and prepare a report to be sent to
your doctor. It may take several days to receive this report from your
doctor.
