Patient Advocates
When you are a patient in the hospital, your medical needs and your questions are unique. One size does not fit all, and Phelps Memorial Health Center is working to better respond to all patient needs. Phelps Memorial developed the Patient Advocacy Program to give each patient one person to work closely with to answer questions as well as provide information, understanding and support throughout a patient’s stay. Patient Advocates provide an additional layer of communication between patients, families and staff helping with the vital task of keeping patients informed about their care.

The Advocate will take time to listen to patient problems and concerns, and convey that information to the appropriate staff members and/or administration. Working with staff at all levels the Advocate can help create solutions prior to the patient going home.
The Patient Advocate will visit in person when possible and will also be accessible by phone at any time throughout each person’s stay at Phelps Memorial Health Center.
