You are invited to join the many people at Phelps Memorial Health Center who give their time and talents to improve the lives of others.
At Phelps Memorial, opportunities are available to assist in a variety of ways, most notably the three committees of the Phelps Memorial Service League, the volunteer organization of the hospital.
Front Greeter's Desk: Volunteers regularly staff the front desk of the hospital. This is the first person most visitors see when they enter the hospital. A wide variety of hours are available. Besides greeting patients and family members, greeters can have the option of helping with the phones and directing people to the area of the hospital they wish to visit. This is a busy, friendly place to volunteer.
Flowers, Mail & Menus: This committee works at the hospital every day in patient care areas. They distribute the patient mail, reading it to the patient when necessary. They also water the patient's flowers, and help with patients order meals using our menus.
Book Cart: This committee works at the hospital every day to bring reading materials to the patients. The book cart volunteers check with each patient, and help through the distribution of books, magazines and coloring books for children.
The Service League is also active in fund raising, which is then donated to Phelps Memorial for projects the League sponsors. They work on an annual bake sale, an every-other-year "Tour of Homes", "Ladies Night Out", dances and other activities as directed by their board of directors. They donate thousands of hours and thousands of dollars to Phelps Memorial Health Center.
