Phelps Memorial Health Center Gifts Funds to American Red Cross Scholarship Program

Phelps Memorial Hospital Foundation recently awarded the American Red Cross a grant of $2,000 to be used to provide scholarships for participating Phelps County High Schools. The Bertrand and Holdrege High Schools each participate and host two blood mobile drives annually which have a very positive impact on increasing student donors and provide much needed blood supply for the American Red Cross.

Dr. Razdan and his partners at Advanced Medical Imaging, who also are visiting specialists at Phelps Memorial, use a live X-ray image to guide medication to a bundle of nerves, known as the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG), via the nasal cavity. The SPG block procedure takes about 10 minutes and reduces the intensity and frequency of pain caused by migraines, cluster headaches and trigeminal neuralgia.

New Lactation Counselors at Phelps Memorial Health Center

Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition Scholarships Awarded

Shayna Hanks, Val Lind, Katy Zavadil, and Jessica Husted are now Certified Lactation Counselors! Each earned a scholarship through the Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition to attend the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, attended a week long Lactation Counselor Training, and passed required testing to become a Certified Lactation Counselors (CLS).
