Phelps Memorial Health Center is one of the largest employers in Holdrege, Nebraska. Our 25-bed Critical Access Hospital employs almost 300 teammates in many different areas of healthcare. Teammate Benefits

An (*) indicates that all teammates, PRN, part-time and full-time are eligible to receive the benefit. To be considered a full-time teammate, you must be regularly scheduled for 60 hours per 2-week pay period.


Group Health Insurance - We offer 2 Blue Cross Blue Shield plan options to our employees and their families including a PPO plan and a high deductible health plan. Depending on the plan selected, Phelps Memorial pays anywhere from 60% to 100% of the monthly premium for teammates and their families. 

Pre-Tax Savings Accounts- Teammates have the option to start a flex spending account and/or a healthcare savings account (all contributions are pre-tax). 

Group Dental Insurance - Phelps Memorial pays a portion of the premium. Yearly cleanings are zero cost to our teammates. This plans also helps cover a portion of orthodontia and basic/major services as well. 

Life Insurance – PMHC provides each employee with a Basic Life/AD&D policy at no cost to teammates. The benefit amount equals to 1.5x your annual earnings to a maximum of $150,000. Pre-existing conditions apply. Teammates also have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance on themselves, spouse and children for a small monthly premium.

Disability Insurance - Phelps Memorial pays 100% of the monthly premium for teammates to receive short term and long term disability insurance benefits. Teammates receive 60% of their wages while out on leave with the first week being an elimination period. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

Accident and Critical Illness Insurance - This is an optional benefit for teammates and is used to help offset medical costs. Premiums are deducted from the teammate's paycheck before taxes. The premium rate is based upon your age and tobacco usage.

*Retirement Plan - We offer a tax-sheltered annuity plan. Teammates are automatically enrolled at 3% after 30 days of hire and can change the percentage of contribution (pre-tax) at any time. Phelps Memorial will begin matching the contribution (up to 3%) on January 1 or July 1 upon 12 months of consecutive employment and 1,000 worked hours. The PMHC contribution is 100% vested after 6 years of employment. 

Paid Time Off and Sick Pay - All Phelps Memorial Teammates (excluding registry staff) accrue PTO hours beginning the first day they begin work. For every hour worked, a percentage of PTO is earned. The percentage increases every year you are a member of the team! First-year employees working 40 hours per week earn up to 128 hours. Teammates also accumulate hours to be used for sick pay beginning their first hour worked as well.

*Holiday Pay - Members of the Team working holidays are paid at 1.5 times their regular rate. Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

*Worker's Compensation - All PMHC Teammates are covered for job-related incidents.

Continuing Education – Phelps Memorial will help pay for expenses in relation to education for full-time employees. PMHC will also assist in up to $10,500 in loan reimbursement (conditions apply!).

*Employee Assistant Program - We contract services for our Employee Assistance Program through Best Care. All teammates and their families can receive confidential counseling services at no charge. 

*Wellness Opportunities - Wellness opportunities are available for our teammates including Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations!

YMCA Membership - Phelps Memorial is a corporate partner of the YMCA of the Prairie. All teammates (excluding registry staff) can take advantage of a free single membership!

*Terrace Cafe Discount - Our teammates receive discounted food in the Terrace Cafe!
