Crystal Swearingen, Director of Guest Services, was recently selected as the winner of the Caring Kind Award at Phelps Memorial Health Center.
For 42 years, The Caring Kind award has been given to Nebraska’s most caring and compassionate hospital employees.
The Caring Kind Award is an honor through the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) that recognizes health care employees who have risen to the top by providing service excellence and dedication to their profession. Award recipients commit themselves to the betterment of their hospitals, their customers, their co-workers and their communities.
Crystal’s vision of building and developing the best teammates imaginable has come to fruition this past year. As a leader directing responsibilities for nearly 40 teammates, she has an outstanding ability for talent selection. Right person, right job, right attitude retention for her teams over the past 12 months is 97.7%. Her dedication to finding the right person with the desire to live and breathe Phelps Memorial’s core values and SERVE Agreement throughout their daily work is evident in her most recent Q12 employee engagement score of 4.53 in 2020, up from 4.44 in 2019. Her team went from the 77th percentile to the 82nd percentile in only six months.
Lacie Westcott, Chief Experience Officer, said “Crystal exemplifies caring, compassion, teamwork and service excellence. Over the past 12 months, she is one of the top teammates recognized throughout our facility.”
Lacie noted that Crystal led her team through an ongoing pandemic and never faltered.
“Her leadership throughout the pandemic has been stellar to say the least. She pulled her team together to ensure the facility was clean and sanitized for our employees and patients to work and visit safely,” she said.
Crystal will represent Phelps Memorial Heath Center at the Nebraska Hospital Association annual luncheon in October.
