A baby boy weighing eight pounds and five ounces was the first newborn delivered at Phelps Memorial Health Center in 2023.

Parker Allan Wood was born at 8:35 a.m. on January 3, 2023.

Parker’s parents, Jedlynn Koch and Logan Wood of Holdrege were surprised he was the first.

“He was due on Christmas Eve,” said Jedlynn, as her beautiful baby slept soundly. “It was a great experience at Phelps Memorial.”

Parker is Jedlynn and Logan’s first child.  According to his parents, he’s the first grandchild on both sides of the family and shares his grandfather’s middle name.

Baby Parker was delivered by Zach Egger, D. O.

The family was showered with gifts for being the first baby of the year in a promotion from the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce. They received gifts from area businesses ranging from diapers and gift cards to sign language classes and more. They also received a bassinet from the Phelps Memorial Service League.  Parker is pictured in a donated personalized onesie to commemorate his special birthday.
