Dependable. Efficient. Dedicated. These words are the driving force of the Phelps Medical Group team. They are committed to helping patients improve their health and maintain quality standards as a rural health facility.  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved The Compliance Team to accredit Phelps Medical Group and recommend them for certification. The Compliance Team determined that Phelps Medical Group was in compliance with the conditions for certification and awarded the clinic with a 3-year term of accreditation.

The Compliance Team sets strict standards to ensure all recipients clearly demonstrate outstanding healthcare delivery practices and compliance to safety, honesty and caring. Phelps Medical Group will be surveyed every three years for accreditation maintenance.

This reaccreditation validates the dedication and quality care the Phelps Medical Group provides to patients each day.

“I am extremely proud of the Phelps Medical Group team for their hard work in preparing for the reaccreditation.  We have been preparing for several months and received an excellent survey review as a result. The Compliance Team accreditation for Rural Health Clinics is extremely valuable as it ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and quality care for our patients,”  said Bethanne Kuck, CRHCP (Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional) and former Clinic Manager.

Phelps Medical Group currently has a dedicated team of 17 employees and five providers. They are experienced in the areas of obstetrics, pediatrics, adult wellness, diabetes management, endocrinology, podiatry, family practice, osteopathic manipulative treatment, men’s health, and women's health.

With a wide variety of services, the experienced medical staff and support team provide the best care in health and wellness.

Tracie Elliott, Chief Ancillary Officer at Phelps Memorial Health Center, stated, “We want to make sure all local residents have access to high quality health care.” The providers at Phelps Medical Group are excellent and dedicated to each patient’s care.”

She further explained that “We are charged with the responsibilities of today and tomorrow.  Decisions made will impact future patients.  This is most visible with the current construction project which will bring efficiencies and connectivity to Phelps Memorial Health Center.  We are aiming to improve services, facilities, and experiences for patients and their families at Phelps Medical Group.”

The Phelps Medical Group clinic is not only committed to excellence through services, but also the personal connections made with patients. Many patients have been patients for many years. It’s the team’s relationships and caring approach with patients that makes them special.

Melinda Weaver, LPN, has been a nurse with the clinic for over 30 years.  She said, “We want to take care of our patients as we would want to be taken care of. We often think of them as family because they have been patients for so many years.”

“We have amazing physicians, nurse practitioners and staff to meet the needs of our patients at all levels,” said Stacey Buettner, RN.  “Our aim is to provide them with exceptional care and service, making it easier to get and stay healthy.”

Physicians and nurse practitioners at Phelps Medical Group are: Russell Carlston, DPM, practices podiatry; Zach Egger, DO, Family Practice, OB/GYN; Charlotte Wirges, MD, Family Practice, OB/GYN; and Michele Hunter, APRN, Family Practice, OB/GYN.
