Phelps Memorial Health Center Announces Hiring of Two Experienced Providers for New Hospitalist Program

Holdrege, NE — Phelps Memorial Health Center (PMHC) is pleased to announce the recruitment of two experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to support the development and launch of its new daytime Hospitalist Program.

This milestone represents an important step forward in PMHC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening inpatient care coordination, enhancing communication, and supporting safe, effective discharge planning for patients during their hospital stay.

The newly hired providers bring extensive experience in inpatient care, clinical collaboration, and patient-centered service. In their roles as hospitalists, they will provide comprehensive daytime inpatient care while working closely with nursing staff, specialists, and local primary care providers to ensure a seamless and coordinated patient experience.

“The addition of these providers is a meaningful step in advancing how we care for patients during their hospital stay,” said Tesha Broadfoot, Chief Nursing Officer at Phelps Memorial Health Center. “Their experience and commitment to collaboration will help ensure patients and families feel informed, supported, and prepared throughout their care journey.”

The hospitalist program is designed to enhance communication among care teams and improve the overall patient experience by providing consistent, dedicated inpatient coverage during daytime hours. Hospitalists will serve as a central point of coordination, helping guide care plans and facilitate smooth transitions from hospital to home.

The two APPs joining Team Phelps to help build and launch the hospitalist program are Brooke Cast, PA-C, and Michaela Parrish, PA-C.

Cast brings more than 20 years of experience, including work as a hospitalist and in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and family practice. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Doane College and completed her Physician Assistant studies at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Parrish, a Holdrege native, has practiced in a family medicine setting for the past seven years. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and completed her Physician Assistant studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

PMHC leadership also expressed appreciation for the continued partnership and support of local providers who have played a key role in developing the program.

The Hospitalist Program remains on track as it moves toward full implementation, with additional updates to be shared as the program approaches its official launch. While a specific launch date has not yet been finalized, operations are anticipated to begin in late summer or early fall 2026.
