• Fewer complications – On average, BDC facilities see 29% fewer complications within 90 days after surgery.
• Fewer readmissions – Patients return to the hospital 28% less often compared to non-designated facilities.
• Better recovery – Advanced practices help patients heal faster and get back to their daily lives sooner.
These outcomes are based on objective measures developed through the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s partnership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
