Phelps Medical Group offers Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations conducted by a licensed medical examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry.

What do DOT physicals consist of?

The doctor performs a series of tests to check your blood pressure, vision, hearing, digestive, and mental health. You might also undergo urinalysis for diabetes and drug testing. A DOT physical can take between 30 minutes and one hour to complete.

Is a DOT medical exam covered by insurance?

DOT exams are generally not covered by insurance. Employers may pay for the exam and in those cases, it is important that the driver get the approval of their employer before getting an exam.

If you'll be a Department of Transportation employee soon and need to receive a physical, schedule an appointment at Phelps Medical Group today by calling 308-995-6111 or schedule an appointment online.
