The Phelps Medical Group lobby was filled with patients who were excited to get their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination at Phelps Medical Group Friday morning.

“I’ve been waiting patiently and am pretty excited to finally get the vaccine,” said Gary Lindstrom of Wilcox.  Gary was one of approximately 96 patients at Phelps Medical Group who received the vaccination.

Mr. Lindstrom said, “My wife and I have stayed pretty tight to home during the pandemic and we are ready to get out and about.”

Phelps Medical Group received their second allotment of the COVID-19 vaccine for members of the public ages 65 and older with underlying medical conditions. The medical team created a blind scoring method to implement for prioritizing patients in the highest risk categories for those who qualify in the current tier 1B.

“Our allotment the past two weeks has been fairly limited, but our plan is to continue using this risk assessment guide and will contact patients directly as doses become available to us,” said Ros Beebout, Director of Phelps Medical Group. She added, “we are expecting additional vaccine shipments in the near future.”

“If you are a patient in the high-risk category (over 65 years of age) at Phelps Medical Group, expect a call from us,” said Mrs. Beebout.

If you are interested in receiving the vaccine, please visit Two Rivers Public Health Department website and fill out the sign-up form.
