Phelps Memorial Health Center’s Quality department brings 52 years of experience to our patients, staff, visitors and providers.  It is their responsibility to promote safe quality care utilizing evidence based practices.

Tesha Broadfoot, Quality Leader says, “The Quality team assists and prepares staff for DNV surveys, promotes infection control throughout the facility with the support of Traci Holt, Infection Preventionist,  and plays a key role in the onboarding of new employees thanks to Janell Huston, RN.  The forth member of the team, Katelyn Kassing, has the responsibility of credentialing all providers.”

DNV (Der Norske Veritas) is approved by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to accredit US hospitals.  PMHC contracts with DNV to ensure that we achieve excellence by improving quality and patient safety through hospital accreditation, managing infection risk, management system certification, clinical program certification, and training.

In addition to successful DNV surveys, the department conducts flu shot clinics for employees, volunteers, and contracted staff, facilitates performance improvement activities using the LEAN process, is responsible for the measurement of surgical site infections, hospital acquired infections, hand hygiene, the auditing of charts for surgeries and inpatients, and tracks and adjusts as needed policies and procedures related to their department with the best interests of their customers in mind.

Phelps Memorial Health Center’s infection rates are consistently better than the national average, and although all employees play a key role in our success, it is the Quality department who leads the charge.

“The team is very dedicated and passionate about the role they play at PMHC!” states Tracie Elliott, Chief Ancillary Officer.  “I appreciate them all and know I can count on them to deliver their best, which results in PMHC delivering “Exceptional Quality and Compassionate Care.”
