Birth and Beginnings Education (BABE)
The BABE class is a 5-week class for parents expecting their first child. Couples learn about pregnancy, nutrition, growth, labor, preterm labor, relaxation techniques, the birth process and delivery (vaginally and via cesarean). You will also learn about what goes on after birth and caring for your newborn. An anesthetist will come and talk one night about epidurals and spinals. You will also tour the labor/delivery room, view the nursery, and visit the postpartum rooms. Questions are encouraged. If the spouse or significant other can't attend a class, anyone else can come as a substitute (i.e., mother, friend, sister, aunt, etc.). Classes are held every Tuesday evening during the specified 5-week period from 7:00-9:30 PM.
